Abstract

A 69-year-old woman with alopecia areata presented to the Family Medicine Skin Clinic for a scheduled appointment to receive intralesional steroid injections in her scalp for her hair loss. During her visit, she revealed a lesion on the back of her hand that “came out of nowhere” more than 3 months earlier. She had tried an over-the-counter salicylic acid, but the lesion—with a central keratin plug—continued to grow.What’s your diagnosis?
