Abstract

In this paper, polyanilines (PANIs) were synthesized at higher temperatures and were thendedoped and further mixed with silicone oil to prepare electrorheological (ER) fluids. Theeffects of temperature on the microstructure of the PANI and the properties of its ERfluid were studied. It was found that porous PANI could be prepared at highertemperatures, and a porous structure was favorable for obtaining electrorheological(ER) fluids with a simultaneous stronger ER effect and lower leakage current.
