F. ; Walker, M. F. Abstract Spectroscopic observations of Pleiades K dwarfs indicate that these stars have equatorial rotational velocities as high as 150 km/s, nearly an order of magnitude greater than other Pleiades dwarfs of similar mass. This confirms that some short-period variables discovered photometrically are indeed rapidly rotating stars. These rapid rotators are probably heavily spotted stars like other late-type stars that exhibit periodic photometric variations. They are definitely not ellipsoidal stars or close binaries.
