Abstract

Abstract Singh, R.K, Bhat, P.N. and Bhat, P.P. 1995. Rapid recovery of rinderpest virus in vero cells from fresh infected tissues by fusion and co-culture methods. J. AppL Anim. Res., 7: 145–151. Two virulent rinderpest virus isolates (Hisar and Bangalore) and one caprinised strain known as goat tissue virus (GTV) were adapted to in vitro growth in vero cells by fusion and co- culture methods. Both these methods were found to be efficient for rapid recovery of rinderpest virus but the co-culture technique was simpler in comparison to the fusion method where more stringent fusion conditions were required. The co-culture technique can easily be adopted for use in any virology laboratory engaged in routine virological work.
