Abstract

Rapid, accurate quantitative analysis of amino acids in physiological fluids is important for diagnosing and managing many metabolic disorders. In this study we systematically investigated a simple, sensitive, high performance liquid chromatographic method that used on O-phthaldialdehyde derivatization of amino acid. This method required less than 100 microliters of physiological fluid and took approximately one hour. Interference by protein degradation products in the analysis of amino acids ws also investigated Our results shat both serum and plasma incubated at room temperature for up to 72 hours did not significantly affect the level of amino acids.
