Abstract
Planning and performing a procedure in craniomaxillofacial surgery demands an excellent spatial understanding of the surgeon. He therefore benefits very much from modern imaging techniques, based on three-dimensional (3D) datasets. Aside from 3D imaging, individual 3D models produced by rapid manufacturing (RM) have been available for almost the recent 20 years. With the help of these RM models, complicated craniofacial surgery is nowadays feasible in a one step procedure whereas only a few years ago a multi step approach was required.
