Abstract
Insect ribosomal subunits may be isolated from gradient fractions in 10–15 min by precipitation with 0.2 vol ethanol in the presence of 10 m M Mg 2+. The yield is approximately 90%, while protein synthetic activity, response to exogenous template and sedimentation behavior of the ribosomes are unaffected by this treatment.
