Abstract

Hine and Vetter (1965) introduced a simple technique for investigating the response of focusing collimators by scanning a radioactive line source inclined at an angle of 45 deg. and displaying the data as a colour scan. An automated method for the evaluation of non-focused collimator performance using point radioactive sources in a water medium has been reported by Bosnjakovic and Bennett (1974) but requires the detector head to be removed from the scanner arm. A rapid technique for determining the response of both focusing and non-focusing collimators has been used here and employs the digital processing unit of a dual detector Elscint* Whole Body Scanner.
