Abstract

Floor plans are essential for maintaining and renovating existing structures. As a result, there is an increasing requirement for the quick and automated development of up-to-date editable engineering drawings of aged buildings. This research creates a fast and totally automated framework for producing editable engineering drawings from 3D point cloud data obtained by a Lidar laser scanner. The suggested framework achieves reasonably high accuracy in drawing wall lines and marking doors on the floor layout. In this article, experiments were carried out to validate the correctness of the automatically generated engineering drawing. The intersection over union (IoU) metric of the wall lines is up to 98%, and the errors for wall-dimension and door detection F1-measure are approximately 8% and 83%, respectively. The total framework-running time is less than 1 min to generate the final editable engineering drawing of the floor plan in dxf file format.
