Abstract
AbstractA rapid and sensitive method for the extraction and spectrophotometric determination of tantalum in presence of niobium with N‐p‐chlorophenylbenzohydroxamic acid has been described. The tantalum‐N‐p‐chlorophenylbenzohydroxamic acid (Ta‐p‐Cl‐BHA) complex is extractable into toluene or benzene in HCl media. The addition of ammonium thiocyanate and malachite green (MG) increases the molar absorption coefficients of the complexes 7.8 × 103 and 4.0 × 1041 mol−1 cm−1 respectively.
