Abstract

AbstractA rapid extraction and spectrophotometric determination of lead with N‐p‐chlorophenylbenzohydroxamic acid (N‐p‐Cl‐BHA) is described. The lead forms a yellow coloured complex with N‐p‐Cl‐BHA at pH 9.0 which is extracted with chloroform. The absorption spectra are registered at 388 nm. The molar absorptivity is 4.5 × 102 l mol−1 cm−1. Effect of pH, solvents, electrolytes, reagent concentration and diverse ions are described.
