Abstract
AbstractA simple, rapid method is presented for the determination of Fe in soils and other ferruginous materials involving hot 6M HCl digestion followed by colorimetric analysis of the ferric chloride complex at 365 nm. Absorbance is linear up to Fe concentrations of at least 40 mg/L. An interference by oxalate in solution was found to be small enough to permit the analysis of iron oxide residues after acid ammonium oxalate treatment. No other significant interferences were found.
