Abstract

Partial discharge (PD) would accelerate the effect of ageing of power equipment insulation. Up to now, plenty of methods have been proposed to detect PD. Interferometry is a detection method with high sensitivity and high speed. In addition to the time required to collect information, the speed of computing depends entirely on post-processing. Post-processing can result in different processing times if different algorithms are chosen. To achieve fast processing, we here propose a phase extraction algorithm based on pure Hilbert transform (PHT). Using PHT, we can effectively detect the signal generated by partial discharge, and observe the generation and magnitude of the discharge pulse in a relatively direct manner. Compared with many other algorithms, our method avoids the complicated processing of the interference fringe pattern, and it is the first time to combine PHT with PD detection. This method has great research significance and practical significance on rapid PD detection.
