Abstract

A mild heat-shock (10 min at 44°C), performed just before seeding on healthy PBL used for co-cultivation, allows the detection of viral markers (p24 core antigen and reverse transcriptase) in a very short time. This suggests that heat-shocked PBL can be employed routinely for the rapid detection of HIV-1 in clinical samples.
