Abstract
This paper presented a mobile CsI gamma detector developed to solve the problem of radioactive source detection in a wide area. The performance of the detector was illustrated during the spectra collection investigation. 1-s spectrum collected by the detector was low-count signal, which is hard to distinguish whether it is a source contained signal or not. A rapid detection method of radioactive source based on the low-count gamma spectra was proposed. Principal component analysis (PCA) was the key technology which was able to extract the source information efficiently. The proposed method improved the detector sensitivity and accuracy.
