Abstract

Low wet-pickup durable press finishing was combined with a rapid-cure catalyst (Al (OH) Cl 2) to demonstrate a system for conserving energy. Low wet-pickup was accomplished by fogging. Good wrinkle recovery and durable press ratings were accomplished in 20 s at 163°C on cotton and polyster/cotton fabrics while maintaining breaking and tearing strength values equivalent to those obtained in the conventional pad, dry, and cure process using dihydroxethyleneurea and magnesium chloride.
