Abstract

The synthesis of high-quality nanopowders holds immense significance in the advancement of high-performance high-entropy rare-earth silicates (HERESs). Here, for the first time, we present the synthesis of HERES nanopowders, specifically high-entropy rare-earth monosilicates (HEREMs) and disilicates (HEREDs), using a rapid combustion synthesis method. Benefiting from the shortened synthesis time and the utilization of ultrafine nano SiO2 templates, grain coarsening can be effectively hindered. As a result, the single-phase HEREM nanopowders (∼60 nm in size) with homogeneously distributed elements can be successfully synthesized. Additionally, the feasibility of this method for the HERED synthesis is also investigated. This research provides an efficient approach to synthesizing high-quality HERES nanopowders.
