Abstract

A rapid data retrieval system for blood banks is described based on a computer service generated index to microfilm records. Use of microfilm for the index and a reader/printer for the microfilm permits "hard copy" of old records within minutes. This approach has resulted in more rapid and efficient access to back records with a substantial decrease in space requirements, and without computer hardware costs.
