Abstract

In this issue of Chem Catalysis , Glorius and co-workers harness the power of metallaphotoredox catalysis to synthesize valuable β-amino aldehydes from α-amino acids and vinylene carbonate. This one-step protocol provides an attractive alternative to more traditional multistep homologation protocols and will streamline the synthesis of β-amino acids and medicinally relevant scaffolds.
