Abstract

The existing 2-round fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH) protocol for 9 chromosome aneuploidy screening (1st round-18, 16, 13, 21, 22; 2nd round-X, Y, 15, 17) is a time consuming technique creating time limitation constraints during preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) cases. In this study, we used a previously described microwave technology to modify the standard FISH protocol for 9 chromosomes so that the total hybridization time of the 2 round FISH is shortened to about 1 hour instead of the usual 5 hours.
