Abstract

EBIS charge breeder will be installed at the ISOL beam line to boost the charge state of the ions and accommodate the input beam requirement of 10keV/u for the superconducting linear accelerator of RAON. Developing EBIS charge breeder requires special techniques related to high voltage, ultra high vacuum, large electron beam current, very strong magnetic field, and precise beam alignment etc. In this paper, we describe the operation principle of EBIS charge breeder and the current development status of the RAON EBIS.
