Abstract

The transmission of sound through infinite, plane panels of complicated construction is considered. A finite element model of a segment of the structure is processed to determine the structural wave modes, and the contribution of each to the sound transmission is found. This enables the important transmission mechanisms to be identified and ranked and allows for the diffuse field transmission loss to be calculated efficiently.
