Abstract

In the presented paper a new approach to the problem of noise reduction of gray and colour images has been presented. The new method is based on the concept of a virtual particle performing a random walk on the image lattice, with transition probabilities derived from the Gibbs distribution. The major advantage of this algorithm is that it filters the image while adapting its properties according to the local image features. It is extremely fast and can be applied to the gray scale and colour images working on the RGB image components.
