Abstract

Multi-radio Multi-channel Wireless Networks (M2WNs) have been studied intensively over the past decade with focus on traffic management functionalities such as channel-to-interface assignment, traffic routing and scheduling. These developed solutions always assumed continuous normal operation of all network components while failing to take into consideration the failure-prone nature of wireless networks. In this article, we develop a novel backup scheme to improve the robustness of M2WNs against random failures. Performance evaluation results demonstrate the ability of the scheme to maintain a much higher system throughput compared to traditional failure recovery approaches.
