Abstract
We have proposed and experimentally developed a novel random distributed soliton bunch in the mode-locked fiber laser and achieved the correlation fiber loop ring down sensing. The experimental investigation of the soliton bunch generated in the fiber laser has been carried out. Soliton bunch has the random distribution of time intervals and delta-like characteristic of the autocorrelation function in each round-trip. The effects of spectral components on the random distributed properties of soliton bunch are experimentally analyzed. The relationship between the delta-like characteristic of the autocorrelation function of the soliton bunch and the transmission length of the fiber is experimentally investigated. In order to verify the validity, the novel fiber loop ring down curvature sensing by wrapping the sensing fiber in the fiber loop around a cylindrical device based on the random distributed soliton bunch is demonstrated experimentally and the sensitivity can reach 0.0148 ns−1 m−1.
