RANCANG BANGUN PERPUSTAKAAN DIGITAL BERBASIS WEB PADA SMA NEGERI 3 SEMARANG

Abstract

Libraries have an important role in providing information related with knowledge and are important element in educational institutions. The existence of libraries will support the implementation of education, research and development, and community service. Success in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of education can be supported by the presence of libraries. Application of information technology, in the context of education is much needed by libraries. So far libraries in general have been in physical form which is a room containing collections of books to be borrowed or even just a room enough to read on the spot. Libraries with physical model raise several problems of which the reader must search for a book from one shelf to another shelf, this action takes a long time. Another obstacle that often happens is that after being read the books are not returned to their place so that other readers who want to read the book will find difficulties during searching the books because not in accordance with the arrangement of libraries that had been developed previously. The Library of SMA Negeri 3 Semarang, which performs a role as a mediator of information, is required to develop a library model in addition to the physical library and also a library in the form of a web or digital. Digital library may be one alternative of high school library system development in SMA Negeri 3 Semarang. The digital library functions as a sub part of the school library that is able to provide information digitally. The advantage of applying a digital library is that students can read the same literature outside the school area
