Abstract

AbstractIntermolecular interactions of guanine‐containing dinucleoside monophosphates in aqueous solution have been investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The measurements show that the dinucleotides ApG, GpA, UpG, GpC and GpG can form ordered structures under the conditions used. The association of these dinucleotides can be monitored by changes of the frequency and intensity of the C=O stretching vibrations due to hydrogen bond formation and by hypo‐ and hyper‐chromic effects in the ring vibrations of the bases.
