Abstract

In this paper we report results concerning the second order Raman spectrum in pure RbCl crystals and the impurity induced first order Raman spectra in these crystals. The impurities used were thallium and copper. The observed experimental results are compared with earlier theoretical and infrared work. Three first order Raman lines at 86,100 and 125 cm -1 arising due to the break of symmetry in the host lattice because of the presence of an impurity are reported.
