Abstract
We describe the experimental investigations of the molecular motions of CH3J and CD3J molecules about the molecular x, y and z axis in the liquid phase. By comparing Raman and Rayleigh correlation times one finds a kind of collective reorientation about the x,. y-axis. As the x, y correlation time is quite long the correlation function of the v4 vibration is simplified to a sum of two terms describing the reorientation about the z-axis. Following the Abragam formalism we separate the two terms and explain the temperaturedependent short and long time behaviour of the correlation functions and find an inertial effect on this quasi free rotation.
