Abstract

Raman spectra of film samples of Ge-S-Sb system with variation of composition x were investigated. With increasing of x, the central wave number of the peak at 380 cm when x=0 is shifted to lower frequencies. When x=30, the central wave number of the peak is at about 340 cm −1 and corresponds to the wave number of inherent vibration of GeS 4 units. As x⩾45 the Raman spectra of this glass system are similar to those of Sb 2 S 3 . These mean that the relative ratio of the five kinds of basic structural units vary with x, the reason for the variation is that the bond strength of Ge-S is greater than one of Sb-S so that the bond number of Ge-S increases with x correspondingly, bonds of 5b-S are partly broken and Sb-Sb bonds are formed.
