Abstract
Raman spectra of ethylenediamine and monoethanolamine in aqueous solution were measured in various pH. The conformation sensitive skeletal deformation bands indicated that the ethylenediamine molecule and its ions take the trans and gauche forms in aqueous solution and that the monoethanolamine molecule takes the trans and gauche forms and the monoethanolammonium ion takes predominantly the gauche form in aqueous solution.
