Abstract

The polarized Raman spectra of La 2−xSr xCuO 4 single crystals ( x =0, 0.01, 0.02 and 0.06) excited by different waveleng ( λ i = 488.0, 514.5 and 647.1 nm) were studied. All five totally symmetric vibrations active in Raman scattering of the La 2CuO 4orthohombic phase were observed and the assignment of vibrational modes was carried out. The transformation of the zz spectra at Sr doping was studied. The anomalous dependence of zz spectra on the angle ϑ between the O z axis and the direction of incident polarization was found. We discuss the reason of the anomalously strong intensity drop of both soft and O1-modes at the Sr doping and increase of the ϑ angle. Raman intensity in the xx and zz geometries was measured was measured at the different x
