Abstract

Physical properties of the high-Tc superconductors YBa2Cu3Ox significantly depend on the oxygen content in this compound. Raman spectroscopy is an effective method to study the influence of the oxygen content on lattice dynamics and, hence, on the physical properties of YBa2Cu3Ox It should be noted that a careful investigation of lattice dynamics remains actual for understanding superconductivity in high-Tc superconductors. The results of earlier Raman studies of high-Tc superconductors stage are summarized in several reviews(1,2). In addition to the investigations of the atomic vibrations of the lattice, Raman spectroscopy of YBa2Cu3Ox has been useful for a study of the energy gap, two-magnon excitations, vibrational anisotropy, and anomalous changes in the vibrational spectra at the superconducting transition. In this paper we shall consider some correlations between Raman spectra and superconducting properties of YBa2Cu3Ox single crystals with different oxygen content (6 ≤ x ≤ 7).
