Abstract

The dependences of the Raman spectra of microdiamonds synthesized at high temperatures and high pressures on sizes in the range of 0.1–73.0 μm have been established. For samples several tens of microns in size, additional peaks of Raman scattering (1400 and 2619 cm−1) were found, which are interpreted as a manifestation of bound two-phonon states. A strong coupling between optical phonons in microdiamonds is predicted due to the resonator effect resulting from the confinement of phonons in diamond microcrystals.
