Abstract
AbstractIsotropic and anisotropic Raman linewidths of the CD stretching mode of chloroform‐d have been measured in water and other solvents, and rotational diffusion constants for the rocking motion of chloroform molecules around their perpendicular to the symmetry axis have been determined from linewidths. The correlation of experimental rotational diffusion constants in solutions, with fluidities of solvents, is examined, and the effect of iceberg structures formed around chloroform molecules in aqueous solution on the rotational motion of chloroform is discussed.
