Abstract

AbstractRaman and infrared spectra of solid dichlorodifluoromethane were recorded in both the internal and lattice mode regions at temperatures between 20 and 80 K. The lattice spectra suggest that the unit cell is small and noncentrosymmetric, and a bimolecular tetragonal cell with factor group C4 is compatible with the observed results. Plausible assignments of all main spectroscopic features are presented, and splittings of internal modes are interpreted in terms of isotopic, crystal, field, Fermi resonance and LO–TO effects.
