Abstract
The infrared absorption spectra of the powdered samples and the Raman spectra of single crystals of MnCl 2d4H 2O, MnBr 2d4H 2O and FeCl 2d4H 2O were recorded at liquid nitrogen temperature. Comparing the predicted and observed vibrational bands the spectra have been interpreted paying attention to the site symmetry of the metal atom and assuming only one formula unit in the Bravais cell.
