Abstract
Raktamokshana is one of the principle shodhana therapies i n Ayurveda. It has widely been practiced in the various clinical settings dep ending on the training and exposures of the physician. W ith renewed int e rest in the Parasurgical procedure s in the recent times raktamokshana has gained foremost appraisal to atte mpt treatment to diseases of various categories . R akta mokshana is indicated as a therapy of choice in many diseases, formally being indicated in rakta and pitta related morbidities. M oreover, the scope of this therapy is further extended to disease s that a re found to be refractory to conventional sheeta - ushana - snigd ha - rooksha kind of treatment. T he final attribute of raktamokshana can be considered on its tremendous prophylactic potential to do away certain diseases.
