Abstract

We study the performance of fast forward link power control in CDMA systems. This feature is a new enhancement in the 3G of cellular CDMA standards. We consider a single cell system and study the effect of Doppler frequency and the number of users on the performance. We also study the effect of forward link power control on the performance of users that are assigned quasi-orthogonal codes, which is a set of codes with low but non-zero cross-correlation. It is shown that forward link power control improves the bit error rate performance of the CDMA system considerably and reduces the outage probability.
