Abstract
Two mixed-cover agricultural watersheds yielded data for an evaluation of the relationship of the kinetic energy of a rainstorm to suspended sediment yields. The relation is developed on the hypothesis that the cultivated acres are the only source of sediment. This statistical analysis is extended to cover the interaction effects of rainfall energy as a function of factors such as rainfall intensity and antecedent moisture. The results are examined and compared with the relationship of other factors of rainfall and watershed characteristics as a means of estimating sediment yields.
