Abstract

In satellite communication systems, the dominant propagation loss component is the free space loss, caused simply because of the distance between low Earth orbiting satellite and the appropriate ground station. Furthermore, atmospheric losses are categorized into three components: ionospheric, tropospheric, and local. Rain attenuation, also called rain fade P r (0) represents the signal power just in front of the rain region and P r (r) represents the signal power just at the leaving border line of the rain region of the distance r, which is the length of the region through the rain, know also the rain path length . Rain attenuation depends on specific rain attenuation and the rain path length. Specific rain attenuation depends on the rainfall rate at the appropriate location specifically, on geographical position of the location where the station is installed.
