Abstract

The goal of this paper is to show the practical application of a railway systems integration process illustrated by an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) case study. An overview of the issues that need to be addressed to ensure that railway electrical systems are integrated successfully is presented. EMC is identified as a major element within the systems integration process. The method of demonstrating EMC for railway electrical systems is reviewed. Data is presented based on recent work on European DC metro system, which illustrates verification through measurement at commissioning stage of requirements specified by both the client and the design (V cycle).
