Abstract
Rafael Campo teaches and practises general internal medicine at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, USA, He is the recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship, a National Poetry Series award, and a Lambda Literary Award for his poetry. His third book, Diva (Duke University Press, 2000), was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. His work has also been selected for inclusion in the Best American Poetry and Pushcart Prize anthologies, and has appeared in many periodicals, including The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times Magazine, and The Washington Post Book World. His latest collection of poetry is Landscape with Human Figure (Duke University Press, 2002). This month The Healing Art: A Doctor's Black Bag of Poetry, essays on poetry and medicine, is published by W W Norton.
