Abstract

Observational data on the content and distribution of radon to a depth of 2 m are given. A model of radon transport from the interior of the earth to the near-surface soil and air layers due to bubble hydrogen and methane formations is proposed. This model has been verified for soil methane contents of 10−6–10−5 and 10−3–10−2% by volume.
