Abstract

Radon is one of the most important natural sources of radiation on earth. Radon concentrations in waters of geothermal basins are a public concern. The aim of this study was to summarize the presence of radon in hot spring pools in Thailand, since radon is known to exert adverse human health effects. According to the literature, there are 13 reports on the presence of radon in 83 hot spring pools in Thailand. The number of hot springs with radon greater than the safety threshold of 400,000 becquerels m−3 was found to be 45, or 54%, in Thailand.
