• Two northern first nations measured radon levels in on-Reserve housing. • The average indoor air concentration of radon gas was 174.7 Bq/m 3 . • Thirty-eight percent had radon gas levels ≥200 Bq/m 3 . • The study identified the need for culturally specific training. • Local knowledge sharing and culturally appropriate infographics are key tools.
