Abstract

Radon concentrations in water samples from eight reservoirs and five streams in Hong Kong have been measured using the Scintrex RDU-200 degassing unit and the RDA-200 scintillation detector. It has been found that the radon concentrations in the water samples and the transfer coefficients of radon from soil to water are correlated with the radon concentrations in the soil samples. The transfer characteristics of radon from soil to water for the reservoirs and streams are similar. The mean radon concentrations for water in reservoirs are close to those for tap water
