Abstract

As requirement of Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), the radon activity in high purity nitrogen which is generated from nitrogen purification system should be measured. The measurement system which contains a radon detection chamber and a radon enrichment system to measure the radon activity higher than 3.873 μBq/m3 has been developed for this purpose. As a result of measurement, the relationship between collection efficiency of detection chamber and voltage supplied has been calibrated, the background of detection chamber is 13.53 ± 0.82 mBq/m3 (stat.+syst.) and the enrichment efficiency of enrichment system is 51% under 25 standard liter per minutes flow speed. Measured by this system, experiment result shows that radon activity in raw nitrogen is 285 ± 21 μBq/m3 (stat.).
