Abstract

Radomes can be thin wall or n/spl lambda//2 thick or A- or B- or C-sandwich or can be multilayered. The properties of radome materials include: fabrication which may involve curing; electrical properties like the dielectric constant and loss tangent; mechanical properties like Young's modulus; thermal properties like thermal shock and temperature; porosity and rain erosion resistance in that order. These ordered properties of radomes are graded according to not applicable-0, bad-1, difficult-2, satisfactory-3, good-4, very good-5, and excellent-6.
