Abstract

ATMOSPHERIC radioactivity is generally attributed to the following: (1) escape of radon and thoron into the air from radioactive material in the surface of the Earth; (2) spallation products of atmospheric gases produced by cosmic radiation; (3) radioactive fall-out as a consequence of nuclear detonations.
